Why build a community? When building and creating a community it is essential for everyone to work together collaboratively. When working collaboratively you are able to make professional relationships where everyone is able to work together and share their ideas, build on their own knowledge and solve problems together as a team. As a teacher it is beneficial to make positive relationships with peers, as you are able to gain insight to thoughts or other perspectives that might differ from your own.
Working together isn't only beneficial when you are a teacher, it also is beneficial for the students (Smith, 2003/2009). By working together students are able to share their thoughts and ideas, learn from each other and reflect on their own learning. As a teacher I ensure to give students the opportunity to work collaboratively with their peers. "Creativity comes from interactions with people, different perspectives and situations" Above is a link to EDU blogs, which is a website that enables people within the community to engage with each other online.

Advantages of working collaboratively within the community:
"Imagination is not only for the child; the experience in education can be greatly influenced by the capacity for the imagination generated by the educational staff and the wider community" |
